ForestryInfo.ca is a plain-language guide to the Crown forest management units of northern Ontario: where each forest is, who manages it, what it supplies, and how its history shaped the communities around it.
Ontario's Crown forests are managed under the Crown Forest Sustainability Act. Most are run by a Sustainable Forest License holder that prepares a long-term Forest Management Plan, carries out harvest, renewal and road work, and is checked by independent forest audits, with public and Indigenous consultation built into every plan.
